Ingredients
5Pillsbury Biscuits, refrigerated
1largeapple , Yellow Delicious or Granny Smith apple, cored and cut into 10 thin slices
5tablespoonsbutter, melted
1/2cuplight brown sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
1teaspooncinnamon
6ouncessoda, lemon-lime
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Peel the apple and cut it into 10 thin slices. Put the apple slices in a bowl and toss them with 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar. Set the bowl aside. Separate the biscuits and roll each one into a flat circle.
Put 2 apple slices in the center of the dough and pinch the edges together. Place all 5 dumplings in a 8x8-inch baking pan.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. When melted, remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the remaining brown sugar until blended. Spoon the sugar mixture over the dumplings.
Pour a 1/2 can of lemon-lime soda in the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle the cinnamon on top of the apple dumplings.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes until the dumplings are browned and cooked through. Remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes and the sauce will thicken slightly. Recipe makes 5 servings.
