Notes
I use one pound of ground pork sausage for this recipe. Since I'm an Ohio girl, our choice is Bob Evans Original Pork Sausage. It has great flavor and browns quickly in the skillet. If you select a maple flavored sausage, remember that it will make your gravy sweet. And Italian ground sausage may be spicy, so be sure to use the mild version, unless you want spicy gravy. I have even used bratwurst with the casing removed, as it has a savory flavor without too much sweetness or spice.
