Ingredients
1/2cupgranulated white sugar
1/2brown sugar, packed
4tablespoonsall-purpose flour
1teaspooncinnamon
6 1/2cupsapples, peeled and sliced ( About 5 large apples, I used Gala apples.)
1/2lemon, juiced
2refrigerated pie crusts
2tablespoonsunsalted butter
1largeegg whites, beaten
1tablespoonsugar
Instructions
Place your sliced apples in a large bowl and pour lemon juice over the apples. Add sugar, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon to the apples and toss to coat.
Unroll one refrigerated crust and place it in the bottom of a 9" pie plate. Press along bottom and sides of the dish. Pour the apples into the pie crust and dot with butter.
Unroll the top crust and place it over the apple filling. Crimp the edges to seal and make small slits in the top crust.
Beat the egg white until it is foamy, brush over the top crust and then sprinkle with sugar. Cover the edges of the pie with foil or a pie ring. Bake the pie at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for another 25 minutes until crust is golden brown and the pie is bubbly. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
