Total Time: 1 hourhr12 minutesmins
Ingredients
For the cookies:
1/2cupsalted butter, softened
2cupssugar
4eggs
1teaspoonvanilla extract
2/3cupsour cream
1/2teaspoonbaking soda
3teaspoonsbaking powder
4cupsall-purpose flour
For the frosting:
1/2cupsalted butter, softened
2 1/2cupspowdered sugar
1teaspoonvanilla extract
2tablespoonsmilk
Instructions
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Using a stand mixer or a large bowl and electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar on high until blended. Add the eggs, vanilla, and sour cream and beat until smooth. Add the baking soda, baking powder and flour and beat on low until blended well. The batter will be soft.
Using a tablespoon-size scoop, drop heaping, rounded balls of dough 3 inches apart onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Bake the cookies for 12-14 minutes until just lightly golden and baked through.
Allow the cookies to cool completely. In a medium bowl, mix frosting ingredients on low speed until well blended. Add coloring to the frosting if you wish. I added 4 drops of green food coloring to half of the frosting. The other half I kept as white frosting.
Spread frosting on cookies and decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles. This recipe makes 2-3 dozen cookies depending on how big you make them.
