Ingredients
For Cake:
2cupsall-purpose flour
1 1/2cupsgranulated sugar
1/2cuplight brown sugar
1teaspoonbaking powder
1teaspoonsalt
1cupunsalted butter
1cupwater
1/2cupsour cream
1teaspoonvanilla extract
3largeeggs
For Frosting:
5tablespoonsunsalted butter
4 ouncescream cheese
1/4cupmilk
4 1/2cupsconfectioners' sugar
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1 cupwalnuts, chopped, optional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 15 x 10 x 1 baking pan with cooking spray. For the cake, mix together the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and add water. Bring to a boil.
Add the hot butter and water to the dry ingredients and mix well. Mix the eggs, vanilla and sour cream in a small bowl and add to the cake mixture stirring until blended.
Pour the cake batter into the baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly browned. Cool slightly before adding the frosting.
For the frosting, add the butter, milk and cream cheese to a medium saucepan. Melt over medium heat while stirring. Bring to a boil.
Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Begin adding the confectioners' sugar one cup at a time. Mix well after each cup. Add the walnut, if desired.
Pour the frosting over the top of the warm cake, spreading it to the edges. This cake makes 24 servings.
