  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 cup ham, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 large potato, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
  • 2 cups asparagus, cleaned and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • salt and pepper to taste
