Notes
Tip for easily removing cherry pits:If you don't have a cherry pitter, remove the cherry pits with a sharp paring knife and a small spoon. Begin by removing the stems. Then, simply cut each cherry in half by running your knife through the center until you hit the pit, then rotate the knife until you've cut all the way around the cherry. Twist each half to separate. Now use a small spoon to remove the pit from the other half. It takes about 8 minutes to remove the pits from 3 cups of cherries.
