Cherry Cobbler is the perfect summer dessert! Rainier cherries are added to this easy cobbler recipe to make a delightful, fruity dessert for your next summer gathering with friends and family.

What are Rainier Cherries?
Washington State is where Rainier cherries are grown each summer. They are named after Mount Rainier. These little gems are delicate and sweet, making them the perfect addition to summer salads and desserts. They are colorful cherries with a vibrant yellow skin with a beautiful red blush. Rainier cherries are available in most local grocery stores in mid-summer.
Rainier cherries were developed at Washington State University by combining two varieties, Bing cherries with Van cherries. They contain roughly 20% natural sugar resulting in a sweet bite of fruit…and a truly memorable summer dessert in this recipe for Cherry Cobbler.

How to easily remove cherry pits?
There are a few easy ways to accomplish this task.
- Removing the pits from cherries sounds like a hassle, but it really takes very little time. Use a cherry pitter that is sturdy and easy to wash. Many of them can remove the pits from cherries and olives, serving two purposes.
- If you don’t have a cherry pitter, remove the cherry pits with a sharp paring knife and a small spoon. Begin by removing the stems. Then, simply cut each cherry in half by running your knife through the center until you hit the pit, then rotate the knife until you’ve cut all the way around the cherry. Twist each half to separate. Now use a small spoon to remove the pit from the other half. It takes about 8 minutes to remove the pits from 3 cups of cherries.
