Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the beef is no longer pink. Add the mixture to the Crockpot. Add the Italian seasoning, bay leaves and layer the cabbage on top.
Add salt and pepper, about 1 teaspoon of each, on top of the cabbage. Now layer the potatoes slices over all.
In a medium skillet, melt the butter and add the flour. Stir with a whisk over medium heat until combined. Continue to cook until bubbly and slightly browned. Add the beef stock, the Worcestershire sauce and continue to stir.
Add the shredded cheddar and stir until thickened, about two minutes.
Remove the sauce from the heat and pour the mixture over the potatoes in the Crockpot, spreading it evenly. Cover the Crockpot and cook on high for 4-5 hours. Do not remove the lid during cooking. Remember to remove the bay leaves before serving. Recipe makes 6 servings.
