1teaspoongarlic salt
1teaspoonblack pepper
1largeyellow onion, sliced

3green onions, chopped diagonally
2teaspoonssesame seeds
1cupJasmine rice, uncooked
Instructions
Season the roast with garlic salt and pepper. Place the roast in a large skillet over medium high heat and sear on all sides. It will take about 3 minutes on each side to brown the meat.
Slice the yellow onion and place it in the bottom of the slow-cooker. Once browned, place the roast over the onions. Add 1 cup of water to the slow-cooker. Mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ground ginger in a small bowl. Pour the mixture over the meat and cover with a lid.
Cook the roast on high for 4-5 hours. Using a pair of tongs, break the roast into large chunks. Add the green onions and cook for another 30 minutes to one hour.
While the green onions are cooking, make jasmine rice, according to package instructions, and steamed vegetables. You can find Jasmine Rice in the Asian section of the grocery store. I made steamed carrots and bok choy and combined that with the rice. Remember to add sesame seeds to the beef just before serving. Makes 7-8 servings.
Equipment
1 slow-cooker, 4 quarts
1 large skillet
Notes
Tips for making the best Sesame Beef:
Before placing the roast in the slow cooker, be sure to season it generously with garlic salt and sear it in a hot skillet on ALL SIDES. This seals the juices in and creates a nice caramelized crust on the beef. This adds flavor and color.
Do not be tempted to lift the lid of the slow cooker during cook time. It reduces the temperature of the contents and adds time to cooking. Be patient, it is worth it!
Add the chopped green onions at the end of the cook time. They will soften and add flavor and color to the beef. Remember to add the white sesame seeds at the end before serving this tender beef dish.
