When I’m looking for something sweet, I can never go wrong with caramel. My favorite candy when I was growing up was Caramel Cremes, and it still is today. Soft caramel wrapped around a creamy white center, makes my mouth water just thinking about it. So, this recipe for Caramel Pecan Bars hits all the right notes. They are sweet, soft, and a bit salty from the pecans.

Caramel Pecan Bars are made with just 7 ingredients. Butter and brown sugar are mixed together to make a sweet caramel. And the remaining ingredients are added to form a thick batter. How to make Caramel Pecan Bars?

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Begin by making the caramel. Add the butter and brown sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture until the butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. Remove the saucepan from the stove.
  • In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, vanilla and caramel mixture until combined. 
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir in the pecans.
  • Spray a 13×9-inch baking pan with cooking spray. Spread the batter evenly in the pan.
  • Bake the pecan bars at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool the bars slightly in the pan before cutting into squares. Recipe makes 24 bars.
