Why choose between beer and a cocktail when you can have both? A Frozen Modelorita is the best of both worlds, a classic Frozen Margarita is paired with a Modelo Especial beer to make a summer drink that is simply irresistible.

There has been an increase in demand over the past few years for imported beer. Modelo, with its cool, crisp taste, has met that demand, becoming increasingly popular and taking over the top spot. It became the best-selling beer in America in 2023.
But when cocktail lovers want a beer, why settle for one or the other when you can have them both. Beer served with a squeeze of lime has always been a thirst-quencher on hot summer days. Pairing a beer with a classic frozen lime cocktail really takes it over the top.

The first time I tried a Frozen Modelorita, I was thrilled by the mix of bright, fresh flavors in this eye-catching cocktail. A Frozen Margarita is made with tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice and crushed ice. Rim the glass with some salt or sugar before sliding a beer into your frozen cocktail to make a showstopping Modelorita. It makes for a crisp and refreshing drink.
As you sip this concoction through a straw, the beer from the upside-down bottle is released slowly into the glass, making a deliciously balanced blend as you enjoy your cocktail. Serve the drink with extra wedges of lime. Summer never looked so fun or tasted so good!

Frozen Modelorita Recipe
What’s needed to make 2 cocktails:
- 3 ounces Tequila
- 1 ounce Triple Sec (or Grand Marnier)
- 2 ounces fresh lime juice
- 2 cups ice
- Kosher salt or rimming sugar
- 2 Modelo Especial beers
Adding a small amount of simple syrup or agave nectar can add some sweetness to this cocktail, if desired. We like to add lime-flavored rimming sugar to the edge of the margarita glass, which adds some sweetness to every sip!

How to make a Modelorita?
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Place the first 4 ingredients in a blender and blend until frothy and smooth. Divide the mixture between two margarita glasses that have had the rims dipped in salt or sugar.
- Open each beer and invert each bottle into a glass, while holding your finger over the mouth of the beer. Garnish with lime wedges. Recipe makes 2 cocktails.
Tips for Making the Best Modelorita:
Keep It Cold: Place the tequila in the refrigerator before making these cocktails. Having all of the ingredients cold before assembling the drinks will ensure they stay cold longer. This works for the glasses too, place them in the fridge or freezer before adding cocktails to the glasses.
Choose the Right Beer: The crisp, refreshing flavors of Modelo Especial work best in this cocktail. Others can be used, including Corona and Dos Equis. They also have a crisp, light flavor with less bitterness. Craft beer and heavy lagers don’t have the refreshing qualities of these lighter beers.
Sweet or Salty: Place flavored salt or rimming sugar into a round dish, rub a lime around the rim of each glass, and dip the glass into the salt or sugar. This adds extra flavor and texture to your cocktails.
Blended or On The Rocks: Your margarita doesn’t need to be frozen! Make this cocktail with a margarita on the rocks, no need to blend it if you don’t have a blender or the time to do it. This cocktail is equally as delicious poured over ice.
